Wikipedia describes this U.S. state as the only consolidated city-county in California. It is officially called the City and County of San Francisco. It is the financial, cultural, and transportation center found in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is region with more than 7.4 million people to include San Jose and Oakland. Aside from that, San Francisco is the most dense city in California and the second most densely populated large city in the United States.

If you would like to visit San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, the steep hills and sourdough bread, and the trolleys are its most famous icons. Your tour will not be complete without taking a ride on these famous cable cars and marvel at the city’s sights. Trolley tours are also options for you as a visitor to become acquainted with San Francisco.

Today, this US state has become one of the popular international tourist destinations. The climate is chilly despite the summer time. It is also a principal banking and finance center and home to more than 30 financial institutions. In fact, San Francisco ranked 18 in the world’ top producing cities making it 9th in the US, and the 13th in the top 20 global centers.

What You Can Do in San Francisco?

As a tourist, you can do a lot of things while visiting San Francisco. You can get a narrated tour aboard the San Francisco Trolley Tours and be driven into the city’s major scenic community: Fisherman’s Wharf, Downtown, Union Square, Chinatown etc.

Enjoy a Cable Car Ride. San Francisco has the oldest and largest running cable car system. It is the only place where you can enjoy a ride on a manually operated cable car even on street traffic.

Visit Golden Gate Park and the Golden Gate Bridge. A visit to San Francisco is not complete without a stop at the Golden Gate Park and Golden Gate Bridge. You can experience the moon bridge at the Japanese tea garden and the Conservatory of Flowers. Whenever you plan to visit the Golden Gate Park, dress in layers. The city has a finicky microclimate that changes from hour to hour. It is also a nice feeling to eat a loaf of sourdough bread while crossing the bridge.

Alcatraz Can Highlight Your Trip. Getting a feel of America’s most infamous penitentiary is also one of the most visited attractions in California. It is a must-see for any first-time visitor. Although, the trip might be a bit expensive, the trip can be worth the price. You can also choose a night trip and witness the narration done by the former guards and inmates themselves.

Consider the Musee Mechanique. This is where any tourist can find an extensive collection of antique arcade machines. Stepping into Musée Mécanique at Pier 45, one can see more than 200 antique, coin-operated entertainment machines. Such collection is one of a kind in the entire world. According to sources, Musée Mécanique’s successful relocation to Pier 45 from its long-time home at the Cliff House, at Ocean Beach, is a testament to the collection, its owner, and the public. The text provides that in 2002, when the museum was being evicted by the National Park Service to make way for a major renovation of the historic site, fans waged a campaign to “save the Musée,” and was able to generate 25,000 signatures.

It is not easy to plan a trip. If you have ever been on a road trip before, be sure to make initial arrangements so that you will not fall into trouble. To travel is wonderful. It is one of the things that people would love to do but cannot do because of financial implications. Still, some would prefer to go to places that they have never been in order to explore and see different people in different cultures. It is worthwhile and fitting to treat yourself with travel as well as your loved ones. It is a fantastic experience and inspiring feeling to change your environment with a travel experience of a lifetime. Read on and find out what to do in order to plan your trip.

Step 1

Make Initial Plans. Decide on what kind of trip you are going to do. Travel can be done through many forms of transportation now. Consider the budget. How much money do you have for travel? By answering this question, you can decide on the kind of transportation to take that may be enough for your budget. Remember to have at least 15-20% allowance in your transportation budget so as not to get trouble on the road. You can conduct a research of the sport or place where to go ahead of time and choose from among the options available. The planning can be done online. You can search for the place and the possible places where to go.

Step 2

List the Places You Want to Visit. Making a list of the places you wish to visit can help. If you decide of places in the United States, you can do research of the places and prepare for an itinerary to systematize the trip. You can make use of MapQuest to give you the exact directions and the exact buses and trains to take. You may also check on cheap bus farebus fare prices if you decide to travel by bus.

Step 3

Decide Exactly Which Places and Length of Stay. Travel is indeed irresistible. If you are planning for a trip, deciding on the exact places and the length of stay can be one important consideration. Look for a budget accommodation available in that place. You can also list out the services you want to avail to assure you of a great stay in your chosen place.

Step 4

Plan What Accommodation to Take. Wise travelers always try to get free accommodations whenever possible. Earlier planning can find you free accommodations with friends and acquaintances and even relatives. However, if cannot be avoided, it is advisable to travel in the off-peak seasons. You can save as much as you can on flights and accommodation during the lean times. Another good suggestion is looking for places that are not popular tourist spots. Thinking of cheaper venues in the same place can save you on a lot of things. Cultural places and museums can be more educational and informative.

Step 5

Check the Weather Conditions. It is advisable to check the U.S. travel weather before embarking on a journey. This helps travelers get an idea of the range of weather that may be encountered while they are on vacation to the different states in the United States. This Guide includes over 200 of the post popular cities and their normal record of high and low temperatures, average precipitation and snowfall for each month. Though, weather prediction cannot be exactly done, this resource can be a good guide in your plan to take a trip.

To travel is to move from one place to another. It is one basic reason why people move from one geographical location to another for whatever purpose and duration. Traveling can be done by land, water, or air. Whatever mode of traveling you take, you are sure to spend only a short time and return to your place of residence. People travel for definite purposes when they decide to leave the comforts of their home and set out to other locations.

Why do people travel?

Reasons for traveling range from the most personal to the most professional. Below outlines a few reasons why people travel.

1.	Love and Relationship. Some people are getting acquainted with long distance relationships. At one point or the other, they have to meet each other. When this happens, they travel. Moreover, those lovers who have just gotten married have to travel for their honeymoon.
2.	Rest and Recreation. People work and find time to unwind. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy is a famous line to illustrate this purpose. To relieve them of life’s stresses, a break is needed may it be at a beach or a place to have comfort and fun.
3.	Family and Friends. Some families have their loved ones living on the other side of the globe. A visit can be one way to have bonding with them and finding out their situation.
4.	Religious and Spiritual. A lot of people travelled during the International World Youth Day, the Holy Father’s Canonization, and other religious reasons. Some go to the Holy Land to see the place where Jesus had used to live.
5.	Death of a relative, friend, or acquaintance. There is more reason to travel in these situations. Funerals are usually located out of town and you have to pay your last respects to the dead.
6.	Education and Research. You may want to go to further school abroad. Some travel to read papers in international conferences.
7.	Celebrations and Occasions. There is a reason to celebrate because of a wedding anniversary, birthday, birth, and many more. Most of the time these are held away from home where guests need to travel.
8.	Medical Check-ups and Health. Treatments are sometimes not available from where you are. You need to travel to a place where you will be given professional help and proper medication.
9.	Work. You may be asked by your workplace to travel in relation to your work to another country which you need to comply.

Today, Off to New York from Washington D.C.

Today the travel itinerary is from Washington D.C. to New York City. The traveler opts to take the bus. New York City is just for hours away from the United States Capitol. For this reason, more trips are available every day since this is an easy way for tourists to do sightseeing. Yet, any tourist in this regard must reserve a seat online or by phone prior to the scheduled trip. Be able to specify the bus name and be knowledgeable about the bus fare. As soon as the reservation is done, you have to print your confirmation page and bring it with you before you embark the bus.

Enjoying the trip can be assured with any tourist traveling light. Make sure that all the things you need are with you. You cannot have access to your luggage bag during the duration of the trip. You need to also have enough food and drink. The trip will take 4 hours. Some buses do not stop although there are buses that stop. There is a bathroom in the bus that you can use. So as not to get bored in the bus, bring something to entertain you, say a book, a radio, laptop computer, etc. Dress in layers to make sure that you are comfortable whether the weather may be hot or cold. Be at the bus stop at least 15 or 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Bring extra cash in case of emergency.

For the past years, the Filipinos were widely known for their manners which are hospitality and politeness when foreigners and guests would visit them. They would do their best to let their guests feel that they are at home and as a part of their family. But what are manners anyway?

Manners can be defined in many ways just like: the way in which a person behaves or speaks; a way in which everything is done; the unenforced standards of conduct which show the actor to be cultured, polite, and refined; being polite, etc. People nowadays tend to forget the real meaning of manners. Some would act according to their own free will without thinking if their acts could hurt other people or not. Manners should always be kept watched all the time in order to ensure that your relationship with other people is good.

It is like a law that everybody follows so that no one will be considered an outcast in the society. Also, it set a standard for human behavior but it does not set punishment for humans who do not follow it.

Manners are like a kind of norms because it is like the rules that a group of people uses in a society or within their territory. In every place there is a consider rule of manner to be followed. Just like for example is when you are in a restaurant; it is your obligation to follow their dress codes. There are certain restaurants that post rules in dress codes so that their costumers will be happy and satisfied.

Manners matters and also subjected to time changes, geographical locations, traditions, occasions, and other factors. Manners also question your ethics. Through it, you will be judged by people on what kind of ethics you have in a particular situation or location.

The younger generations of today do not know the word manners. They would just simply do the things they would like to do without considering the feelings of others people around them. They prefer people who would always consider that what they want is what they get.

For adults manners are important because it would be the factor that could affect their lives. It would even help them achieve their goals and dreams to the extent that following it.

In the society, manners are like treasure because through it, you will gain friends or not. The society will accept you for having these manners. It even will make or break you.

Manners are behaviors that changes every time due to the people who would create things that affect other people’s minds and would also affect other people who is close to them.

Manners are always present in our everyday lives and there are different kinds of manners: from table manners to social graces to morality. These manners not only teach us to be a good person but also to be a good citizen. It helps us mold into a person that everyone expect us to be.

It is nice to imagine a day’s experience on the subway. Vividly, a tourist recalls her experience of how it is to be in the subway in New York City. She was told by a New Yorker that there is no better way to get around the city of New York than to use the subway. As a tourist, she was accompanied by this New Yorker and she had a chance to get around New York. She was also informed that the trip would be a lot cheaper than taxis and more so taking trips by limos. Aside from that the subway fares are reasonable and get her to her destination quicker. There is a free New York Subway Map at the Subway Station which the tourist availed of. Thus, she had practically an enjoyable time.

The next event was buying the subway ticket. There is a prepaid Metro Card from the automated touch screen ticket booths at the station. Inasmuch that the tourist is new to the place, the New Yorker friend of hers facilitated the ticket buying. First, she looked at the options available and opted to get an unlimited pass that best works for 7 days at 12.50 USD. This was good enough for her. The 7-Day Unlimited Ride Metro Card is good for her 7-day stay in New York as well as the local bus rides within the city.

The New York City Subway

Then, while the train is moving towards the first destination, the tourist had an informative lecture about the New York City subway system. She was told that the system’s stations are located throughout the 4 boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Bronx. Staten Island has a rail line known as the State Island Railway. Interestingly, all the services pass through Manhattan except the Franklin Avenue Shuttle in Brooklyn, Rockaway Park Shuttle in Queens, and Brooklyn-Queens Crosstown Local. She explained to the tourist that all but two of the 468 stations of the subway are served 24/7. This was the reason why New York is known as the “City that Never Sleeps.”

The Tourist’s First Stop: Times Square

After swiping the subway tickets, the tourist with the New Yorker as guide proceeded to their first stop: The Times Square. This is considered to be a major commercial intersection in the borough of Manhattan, New York City. This is situated at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretches from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. Among all the areas in Manhattan, this is one of the thickly populous. The New Yorker delights on how the theaters of Broadway have evolved. Now the huge number of animated neon and LED lights have marked one of New Yorks’ iconic images, and has become a symbol of urbanism in Manhattan. The beauty and the splendor that is Times Square is now being compared to those of Las Vegas, Nevada. Recently, Times Square has become the site of the most popular annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop. It is said that a ball signifying New Year’s Day was first dropped at Times Square on December 31, 1907. From that time on, the square continued to be the venue of the New Year’s Celebration. During this occasion, most people from all over the world witness hundreds of thousands of people congregating to watch the Waterford Crystal ball being dropped.

This transportation has become more of a tourist attraction despite the fact that it has been used by some commuters. Tourists who want to go to the Alcatraz Island and the Fisherman’s Wharf can take the cable cars. It has been a fact that going to San Francisco is not complete without getting a ride on one of the cable cars.

Riding the cable car can be a ride of a lifetime unless you are a resident of the city. Usually, the cable ride can be slow and noisy because of the vintage transportation but the ambiance of the vehicles’ amenities is truly worth the experience. The cable car usually makes a series of stops and at a relatively slow speed, the purpose of which is to get a good focus of the sights the city has especially when the cable car reaches the San Francisco Bay Area.

How does one get the most of the cable cars in San Francisco, CA

Getting a good position in the cable car. This can be done by hanging onto the outside of the cable car. By so doing, you get the better view of the city of San Francisco as the tour progresses. You have to be careful though lest your head might bump into some objects like other vehicles that may pass while the cable car is in motion. If not, you can position yourself inside the cable car operator to see the break of the different levers used to make the car stop and start. This can be one exciting experience for you to see how the operation of the cable is done. According to Howard Hillman, a renowned traveler, the power of the cable car comes from an extremely long cable loop that moves in a trench under the street. The operator mechanically grips it to stop. Amazingly, the cable is pulled by colossal, power driven wheels.

Hopping on the trolley as soon as it stops. Make an effort to stop at one of the streets rather than the beginning or end. This strategy allows you to get on the cable car first and not queue anymore. Because the city has captivating sights, your day will be complete and satisfying if you can experience trending the city views by getting the best perspective in your cable ride. It is difficult to walk from one street to another because a cable car ride appears to be tempting. In order to manage your travel time, a cable ride is the best option.

Visit the Cable Car Museum. This is located on 1210 Mason Street. A good look at the latest San Francisco cable car and knowing about its history and the inventor can be a lot of fun. You can also get souvenirs at reasonable prices. It has become a requisite to go to this place once you get to San Francisco.

“Hello! How are you?” These are the words we usually say when greeting someone, but as we grew up we usually forget good manners especially in public places. Why do manners always matter? Is it important in our life? Do we need to say “thank you” when receiving a gift? Do we have to apologize when we do some mistakes? That would be answered later.

Market, malls, parks and more are some of the public places where people do a lot of conversations. Have you ever gone there? These are places where we do a lot of things. Have you acted well in these places? Well, if you didn’t, you should do it next time. Acting good in public places makes your reputation better and worth respecting. Chatting in public places requires good acting and good topics. If possible, don’t do gossips in public especially when it attacks a private reputation. We always need to say “sorry” when we do some mistakes and say “thank you” when we receive something from someone. Being polite is necessary. It is one way of showing respect to someone, especially if they really deserve it, and saying sorry doesn’t necessarily mean that you gave up, it simply means that you care about the relationship.

It is not only about what you feel, it is also about the feelings of others. It affects the person’s friends too, so be careful on what you are saying because manners matter. Though it will make you happy, remember also that it will kill a thousand of reputations.

Another problem of the society is the “Public Display of Affection.” Is kissing acceptable in public? To the couple, it may be acceptable but, what about the people around them?

Nowadays, a lot of couples are doing the public manners. They might enjoy doing these but the people around them are deeply uncomfortable on what they can see. The couple should also think the reaction of others if they’ll be happy or annoyed by those things.

Don’t only look up to yourself. You should also look wildly in all the directions. It is also a way to protect your reputations. It’s not that we are not allowing you to do that with your partner, it’s just that you don’t need to let everybody sees it. You can do it in private places just be sure that no one sees it.

Holding hands, an arm across the shoulder and kisses for goodbyes and hellos are simply allowed.

Manner in social networks is also a factor; in fact it is the greatest factor nowadays that attacks a private reputation. Posting to walls, comments and feedbacks are usually found in Facebook (a famous social network). People using Facebook are not aware of what they are typing. They do attack an individual using some “super” words which really affects the feelings of others.

Good thing that Facebook has now “report as spam”, “delete post” and “delete comment” bar. But remember, our life has no “delete” bar. We have only the chance to change what we did.

We need to be considerate to the people around us to protect our private reputations.

“Xie xie… Arigato… Kamsahamnida… Merci… Muchas gracias… Thank you!” These are different words to say thank you to a person and showing gratitude after asking that person for a help or a favor. By saying these, you show that you have good manners.

Good qualities display respect, care and love to other people. Everyone has a good side in them no matter how evil that person is. Even criminals have good attitude. The story shows that even a prisoner has good figure like the one portrayed by Steve Buscemi. He was the feared prisoner because of the mass killings he had done before. But still, he showed that he could change and has good attitude left on him.

Having good personalityshows that you respect other people and especially you respect yourself. In this age of technology, people seldom show good manners when it comes to the use of gadgets like cell phones, computers, televisions, laptops, etc. This only tells us that we care most of our gadgets than the people around us.

It is always a good start having good behavior at a young age. We should teach children on what are good actions to be able them to adapt to other people. They should be trained on having good manners and right conduct especially when dealing with the society.

When talking to people, we should always remember the magic words. These are ‘thank you’, ‘please’ and ‘welcome’. These are simple words yet displays good manners. Also, we should think before we say or react in a conversation. Without thinking before we talk, we might offend the person we are talking with. Not only that, you might also cause disrupt or a humiliation on the person you are talking to.

If you are attending a party, don’t forget to know the theme so you will be able to prepare the dress that you will be going to wear in that day. If you are in a party, you should keep in mind the proper etiquette to avoid humiliation.

Being polite is considered a good character. Some studies have shown that women are more likely polite than men, though the exact differences are not clear. Both men and women should practice politeness. A lady is the term used for polite women and gentlemen for the men.

Gestures are also considered on having good personality. It is a non-verbal communication in which visible bodily actions sends particular messages. When talking to other people, you should always keep in mind your body gestures cause without you knowing, you might have offended the person because of your gestures. Try to avoid your mannerisms like rubbing your hands, always looking at your watch, and your facial expressions. Some gestures may be acceptable to others people but there are cases that gestures are unacceptable to people with cultural differences.

Good manners play an important role for a person but always remember the golden rule: One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.

Have you ever taken a bus ride? What scenes do you usually see while riding on it?

Traveling is a very ordinary thing for us humans especially when we go to work, school, or even having a tour in the mall. Traveling is a part of our routine and one of the things that help us travel is the bus. The bus is the most common form of transportation that people usually ride on when going out. We met different kinds of people. They have different behaviors that we usually liked or even disapprove. These are behaviors we usually compare to the acts the society approves. This is what we called manners.

So what are the proper bus manners? Here are some useful tips.

If you’re a guy with a lady companion, the lady should come first. She should ride the bus first before you took a step on the bus. Remember that a guy should always be a gentleman.

Do not sit in seats that are reserved for particular persons like the senior citizens and the persons with disability. Sit at the back so that the next passenger will sit on it especially if that person carries a lot of baggage and also for the particular person.

While waiting for your stop, always remember to avoid disturbing other passengers like talking loudly in a conversation over a phone or from a companion. Also, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing to avoid infecting other passengers.

Do not sit or stand near the driver so that you will not disturb him while driving.

Before going out, remember to check your dress because a lot of people secretly gossip on what kind of dress you wear especially if the dress you’re wearing is a revealing one.

If you see a person who has a lot of carriage or an old person who will ride on the bus, help him or her on taking a seat. You could also let that person have your seat if it is already overcrowded. Do not also forget to say thank you, you’re welcome and excuse me.

Always remember don’t leave your belongings on the seat cause it might motivate other people to steal your things.

If you are listening on music, keep the sound to yourself. Be considerate of other people. Do not play your music that will grab everyone’s attention because some people might be annoyed due to its loudness.

If you have kids, try to bring toys or things that would make them busy. If they are doing something, they won’t disturb other people.

If you board a bus and found that a double seat is empty, where would you sit? You should choose to sit next to the window so that the empty one will be for other passengers.

Most important of all, have your fare or ticket ready before or during the tour. It is improper to let the conductor or ticket collector to wait for you.

So, next time when you are in a bus, you will be more conscious on what you do inside the bus. Remember, traveling is always pleasant if there is etiquette and courtesy at all times.
